- Should we send Mom & Dad on a cruise?
- Case Type:
- Family

- Verdict Reached

- Plaintiff's Argument:
- Mom and Dad have been there for us forever. They’ve been great parents, and their anniversary is coming up. It’s a big one – 35 years strong – and we four kids should, I say, get together and get them something really cool, which is namely a cruise to Alaska. Dad always wanted to go back to Alaska since he was there in college, and they haven’t had a vacation in forever. It’s kind of expensive – probably 3 grand or so for the whole deal – but is that too much to ask of us to each kick in 750 bones to show our parents how much we care about them?
They won’t ever admit to wanting something like this, but I think if we just give it to them, they’ll love it.

- Defendant:
- Older Bro
- Defendant's Argument:
- Mom and Dad don’t want a cruise.
First of all, they hate leaving the house, let alone traveling.
Have you ever noticed that they’ve never once come to visit you in California? Or me in Philadelphia? Or Kim in Chicago?
I mean, come on. What is this some kind of thing where you’re going to get other people to encourage me to give my parents something they don’t want?
They’ll HATE it. HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE.
I know them, and I've known them three years longer than you have. So trust me - leave them be.
They’ll pretend like they like it and then never take a trip. I know you think you’re helping, but you’re not.
Let’s just get them a new lawnmower or something – that’s all they ever want anyway.
I know it sounds insane, but I've never met two people who like doing stuff less.
Exhibit C is not our parents, but this is about how happy they are when they have to do things to make their children know they love them.
