    Night Ranger v. Bergzilla
    Case Type:
    Style & Taste, Hells Yeah!
    Status:
    Verdict Reached
    Terms:
three judges or 72 hours, whichever comes first
  2. Plaintiff:
    snash
    Plaintiff's Argument:
My friend, let's call him Bergzilla, is pretty on top of the music scene. He listens to what you might call "good" music and makes fun of me for occasionally putting on some Night Ranger in the car. Now I admit that I am old and out of date and have bad taste in pretty much everything. But is it not a man's right to play some Night Ranger without fear of verbal attacks?

I ask you, ladies and gentlemen of the court - this one thing - and then I throw myself at your mercy. Tell me honestly. Does this song rock or what? I think you know it does.
  3. Defendant:
    Thebujew
    Defendant's Argument:
Just because you lost your virginity to this “power ballad” in the back of an ’82 Camaro (complete with the Oakley Blades and fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror) with “Ms. Anna” does not make this track ‘rock’ nor should those of us with taste be subjected to it. Granted, your strict upbringing barred you from finding out about “Led Zep 2, side B” from the boys at Ridgemont High, but that’s no excuse to force those of us to be reminded of a band who at best, peaked at #5, then saw their ‘success’ wane immediately thereafter, forcing the band to split up in ’89. I’ve tried to listen to this song, in many states of mind, and no matter what, the same conclusion occurs; THIS TRACK SUCKS ASS!

And if that’s not damning enough... “during the band's heyday; Rolling Stone's review took a swipe at Night Ranger's "formula" of "sub-Broadway" ballads. Other critics were less flattering, with terms such as "poseurs" and "pomp-rockers" in various music guides”.

Don’t bother throwing yourself at the mercy of the court. Instead, pick up a LA Weekly, get yourself a Prop 215 card, indulge -- and you'll have the epiphany that has alluded you for 20 plus years..!!!
